If it reaches a point where the lender has used all options for recovery, they’ll make a claim to the SBA. At this point, the SBA guarantee kicks in and the federal government will repay the lion’s share of the loan on your behalf.
Yes you can get the liens released by doing what is called an “OIC” Offer in Compromise. Depending on what your financial statement looks like now is going to depend on what the offer will be. Feel free to email me or call me. [email protected] 401-390-3800

Your research on the lender is as important to the process as the lender’s research on your business. The online tools mentioned above should give you a fast start to your research, but I also recommend checking out LendingClub if you have an established small business, or a lender such as Kabbage or OnDeck if you’re just getting started.
Choosing isn’t as hard as it sounds, though. When you shop for your loan with Lendio, one of our personal funding managers will partner with you every step of the way. He or she will talk to you about all your loan options, help you calculate how much financing you need, walk you through collecting all the necessary documents and forms, and tell you everything’s going to be okay. We don’t hug, though. Hugs are where we draw the line.
If you don’t have established business credit yet, you can leverage your personal credit to qualify for financing – but you’ll probably have to personally guarantee the loan or put down collateral. And just like a personal credit score does, a strong business credit score can help you qualify for better rates and terms. Taking the time to build excellent business credit – and monitor it regularly – can save you thousands of dollars on the cost of your loan. Financially speaking, a good business credit score it can be a total game changer for your business
My wife and I have an E2 Visa (Investor Visa) and obtained an SBA loan 2 years ago with the help of our GM who is American Citizen. Our initial agreement was that we would get him of the loan as quick as possible assuming that according to SBA – we could take over the loan and guarantee for the loan after 12 month operating an LLC in California. I’ve contacted the Bank (Monterey County Bank) and they told me that in order to qualify for the loan I have to have at least a green card or be American citizen. We are not in default or anything so it is just to clarify and understand how we can get our GM of the loan.

There are two loan approvals you’ll need to obtain. First, your bank must review your application and decide whether you meet their qualifications for funding, subject to SBA approval. Banks are obligated to observe the “credit elsewhere” rule, meaning that if your company is qualified for a loan from any other source without the credit insurance provided by SBA, you should be sent there.
Who it’s good for: An established business that needs to borrow a larger sum up to $500,000. Residents of all U.S. states except Nevada are eligible, and Funding Circle is a particularly good pick for businesses that want to keep fees minimal and easy to understand.
What are my options with my SBA home disaster loan from Hurricane Katrina. My ex husband lived in the home for more than 2 years after I left him and paid the note. I did not want the house. We divorced, and as part of the divorce settlement agreed to ready it for sale or to rent. He left the country–moved to China. He has not paid even his half of the mortgage note and I can’t. i am on disability and only get $640 a month. He does not pay child support that was ordered. SBA took my entire tax refund last week without notice. Can I bankrupt on this loan? I need help.
More than likely, you’ll need an excellent business credit score as well as good personal credit to qualify for an SBA loan or traditional loan from a bank; this will depend on the individual lender and business factors such as your revenue, cash flow and time in business. In general, online lenders look at personal credit scores but can be a bit more lenient when it comes to credit score requirements, as they place more emphasis on your business’s cash flow and track record.
Sounds great, but these loans require a lot of collateral and can be notoriously hard to secure. Application and approval can also be daunting — you’ll need to complete a slew of paperwork, put up to 30% down, and possibly wait a few months to see any money.
Small business owners who have trouble getting loans through more traditional channels have a growing number of options online. Some online lenders directly lend money themselves, while others use peer-to-peer models that allow individual investors to fund your request.
SBA loans come in several types, with different allowable uses. “Most of these loans can be used for working capital, to renovate business facilities, purchase equipment, finance receivables, and in some cases, finance the purchase of company facilities,” Anderson says. “Existing businesses and start-ups can qualify for SBA business loans, but some lenders do not fund start-ups.”

A rollover as business startups (ROBS) financing transaction lets you roll over eligible retirement accounts to invest in a startup or an existing business. It’s an option for entrepreneurs who have built up a significant amount of retirement savings and want to tap into the funds, without paying income taxes or early withdrawal penalties.
Personal loans can be a sensible alternative to small business loans in situations where the small business doesn’t yet have a solid history of profit, or can’t currently provide the documentation and analysis a bank requires to consider a small business loan. The personal loan is issued to an individual—the business owner—based on their credit. It is ultimately their responsibility to pay back the loan.
